Window changes and upgrades, concrete repairs at Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville

Starting in April, all windows around the arena of Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville will be replaced and upgraded from single-pane to double-pane glass. Windows on the 1970s facility have been known to leak in heavy rain, are difficult to maintain, and are not energy efficient. Upgrading to double-glazed windows is a major contributor to energy efficiency and enables the city to receive discounts from Duke Energy.

Window upgrades also allow future replacements inside the building rather than via elevators or scaffolding outside the building, reducing repair costs

In addition to replacing windows, repairs, cleaning and reworking of the concrete facade on the outside of the hall will give the center a more coherent appearance to match the arena. Fall protection is added on the outside to improve roof maintenance and window cleaning safety.

Events continue to take place in the center as only one facade of the building is installed at a time and a 7 foot distance to the construction area is maintained.

The project is currently expected to be completed by September 2021.
