Volvo renews million-ton guarantee for pavers: CEG

The Million Tons Guarantee Program is based on a national average of 250,000 tons of asphalt per year in the US, which equates to just over a million tons over a five-year or working season.

Volvo construction machinery is bringing back its popular Million Tons Guarantee, a North American aftermarket program that will help customers of the asphalt paver manufacturer Volvo 7000 series replace wear parts for auger and conveyor systems over a period of five years.

The name of the program is based on a national average of 250,000 tons of asphalt per year in the US, making a total of just over a million tons over five years or work seasons.

“Road construction companies work on highly productive, on-time projects and have high expectations for their equipment and the service they receive,” said Bill Laing, road product manager for Volvo CE. “Volvo shares these expectations and the Million Tons Guarantee shows our confidence in the quality of our product and our commitment to help our customers increase their availability and reduce their total cost of ownership.”

7000 series paver focus

The Volvo Million Tons Guarantee was introduced at ConExpo 2014 for machines that were sold this year. The restarted program is available for P7110B tracked and P7170B wheeled asphalt pavers purchased by June 30, 2020. The five year period begins with the purchase of the paver by the end user. Customers have 30 days after purchase to sign up for the program.

During the duration of the warranty program, the machine owner has access to three conversions, which are specified in the Volvo CE wear test manual. Parts are treated in a tiered approach:

  • 100 percent of the first conversion will be carried out by Volvo.
  • The second conversion will be 50 percent carried out by Volvo.
  • 25 percent of the third conversion will be carried out by Volvo. If additional modifications are required, Volvo will cover 25 percent parts with a pre-approved warranty.
Industry leading pavers

The P7110B tracked paver of the 10-foot class and the wheeled paver P7170B have the Volvo D8J, 8-L, Tier IV Final engine with continuous passive regeneration, a continuous run time of more than 12 hours without refueling and an improvement of more than 5 percent fuel efficiency compared to previous models. They also have the longest hydraulic tunnels in the industry, a range of screed options, a material flow system with four sensors and 360-degree visibility – all of which, according to the manufacturer, result in higher quality and productivity with lower operating costs.

Volvo has continued to add service offerings to its P7110B and P7170B asphalt pavers, including the availability of ActiveCare Direct, Volvo’s advanced telematics system and the Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty, both added in 2019.
