Volvo CE to sell Blaw-Knox Paver Business to Gencor

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has signed an agreement to sell the North American Blaw Knox paver business and related assets to asphalt plant manufacturer Gencor Industries.

The Blaw Knox business and related assets will move to Gencor, including the transfer of the production line in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Gencor has announced that it will continue production of the Blaw Knox paver line in southern Pennsylvania and relocate it to a location in Letterkenny Township.

The agreement, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2020, enables Gencor to manufacture, develop and market Volvo CE’s current North American paver product line under the Blaw-Knox brand. Gencor has announced that it will continue to market and service the Blaw Knox line of pavers through select Volvo CE dealers in North America.

The Blaw-Knox brand dates back over a century when the Blaw Collapsible Steel Centering Company merged with the Knox Pressed and Welded Steel Company in 1917. The company manufactured its first paving equipment in 1929, and the brand has since built equity in the paving segment in North America.

Gencor manufactures asphalt systems, soil remediation systems, incineration systems and heat transfer systems for road and highway construction.

“Gencor is a strong player in the acquisition of the Blaw Knox range of pavers as it has extensive expertise in the asphalt industry and a reputation for quality and customer success,” said Melker Jernberg, President of Volvo CE. “We see this agreement as a win-win situation for us and Gencor. The company maintains a valuable product offering for Volvo CE customers and provides dealer sales and servicing of Blaw-Knox brand paver products in North America. “

Marc G. Elliott, President and Director of Gencor, said, “With our already strong position in the asphalt industry, this acquisition will give Gencor access to the venerable Blaw-Knox brand and entry into the hot mix paver segment. We are committed to the long-term growth and development of the Blaw-Knox brand. “
