NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is looking to identify suspects who vandalized a synagogue fence on Staten Island over the weekend, authorities said.
At approximately 12:30 am on Saturday, January 21, a white Honda SUV stopped in front of the Congregation Toras Emes of Staten Island Synagogue, located at 3151 Highland Blvd. in Oakwood Heights and a suspect exited from the rear passenger seat of the vehicle and ran through the PVC fence, causing damage to the fence, police said.
According to officials, the suspect then re-entered the rear passenger side of the vehicle, which fled the scene traveling southbound on Highland Boulevard.
The suspect who damaged the fence was last seen wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
The driver of the vehicle was wearing a red shirt, while the front seat passenger was wearing a white shirt, authorities said.
An investigation is ongoing.
