United Tile and Carpet serving area for 69 years |

United Tile and Carpet has been a mainstay in Harrison County for 69 years. Her current location is at Nutter Fort, although this was not always her home. However, their customer service model hasn’t changed, said owner Ken Shahan.

“I try to convey that I am her friend. I will do everything I can to make her happy and make her house feel like a home instead of just a house, ”he said in a previous interview.

United Tile and Carpet added new products over the years, but Shahan said it hasn’t changed that much other than attracting new customers while keeping the old ones.

Shahan believes the customer loyalty reason is because of the service they get at United Tile and Carpet.

“Our service is among the best, and we’re the oldest flooring retail store in Central West Virginia.

“We had to have good service and a good reputation to take care of our customers,” he said.

Because of this, Shahan said he still saw several customers who started shopping there when United Tile and Carpet opened its doors.

Although some customers may need less advice, Shahan says the staff continues to provide assistance to those who do. They also offer free in-house design work.

“They seem to know a little bit more about what they want and what they’re talking about (but) when someone needs to do a bathroom or kitchen and they want to do something other than just laying traditional flooring, we do the design work,” said he.

United Tile and Carpet is located at 500 Buckhannon Pike, Nutter Fort. Their phone number is 304-624-4745.
