Three garden lights for your garden, selected by Alexander James Interiors

Light up your garden! We’re taking a look at three designer lights to light up outdoor life as lockdown restrictions wear off

  • The budget of the outdoor lights ranges from £ 55 to £ 780

With lockdown restrictions easing, it’s time to maximize outdoor use in warmer weather.

This can include a private garden or balcony where the lighting can help you enjoy the outdoors longer as the evening begins – and make a design statement.

We take a look at some fixtures that are specifically designed for outdoor use and accommodate different budgets – from £ 55 to £ 780. They are plugged into the mains and provide a more reliable power supply than a series of lights that depend on batteries and may only last a week.

Our selection is based on the rules for meeting outdoors. Since March 29, people have been able to meet outside – also in private gardens – in groups of up to six people or as two households.

We’re taking a look at some lights specifically designed for gardens (including these Amara lights, details below).

The outdoor lights were selected by top interior designer Alexander James Interiors.

They have features like dimmer switches and even a pendant – a design usually associated with indoor lighting.

Rachel Clark of Alexander James Interiors said, “Garden lighting is so important. It not only illuminates outdoor areas at night for a functional life, but also creates an atmospheric, inviting glow to make outdoor areas cozy and inviting. ‘

“Plus, the outside lighting looks just as beautiful inside as it does outside, so you don’t even have to be outside to appreciate it.”

Ellie Fennell, a lighting buyer for John Lewis, said, “Lighting can really transform your outdoor space and set the mood for gatherings.”

And Amanda Pollard of Houzz.co.uk added, “Lighting is key to creating a space that works well into the evening.”
