Nothing catches our attention more than a new company offering beautiful products at great prices. Thanks to the design references behind the new start lighting company Mabel, we are immediately enthusiastic.

Mabel was only launched this year by lighting expert and mumpreneur Claire Woodward and offers a breathtaking selection of lights in beautiful, elegant shapes, luxurious materials and eye-catching designs.
Claire is also no stranger to lighting design. Over the past 20 years she has developed and transformed lighting collections for well-known designers such as Tom Dixon and Abigail Ahern as well as for the high street stores BHS and Debenhams.
How it all started …
Despite working for some of the best names in the business, Claire had always fulfilled the dream of becoming her own boss. Last year, like many others, she was fired from her job as a senior lighting buyer as a result of the pandemic. However, that didn’t stop her from making her dreams a reality.
Claire says: “Although I was pregnant with my now four month old child and chasing after a lively two year old, I was inspired by my grandmother Mabel’s favorite mantra:“ Always do what you enjoy most ”. So I took the plunge to start my own independent business. ‘
‘The collection was named in honor of Mabel herself and my legacy in Bristol and conveys my experience as a buyer and developer of lighting and ultimately my longstanding passion for beautiful interiors. Each piece has a name that represents my beloved hometown. ‘
Fast forward to January when Claire finally launched Mabel Home & Lighting. The online shop currently offers a dozen exposed lamps in the light bulb look – in wonderfully luxurious materials such as brass and smoked glass.
‘I am proud to say that every light was designed and developed by me personally. After working in the lighting industry for years, I have developed close working relationships with manufacturing partners who bring my visions to life, ”adds Claire.
In addition, delivery problems that many companies are experiencing due to the pandemic and Brexit have not had the slightest impact on Mabel. ‘We keep UK stock and I personally package and distribute every customer order! The founder role for a start-up ensures that I oversee every aspect from design to delivery, ”she adds.

This is just the beginning of Claire. Much more is planned for the company later this year and beyond. “Looking to the future,” she says, “I plan to expand the product range to include home accessories and occasional furniture.”
