The city of Clarksville begins annual mosquito control efforts

The contract with the seller focuses on public areas and pest reduction

To combat these seasonal pests, the city of Clarksville has signed a contract with a company to provide an annual mosquito control program that will help bite the biting insects across the city, but especially in public areas such as parks, ball pitches, and near schools. should be reduced.

McGee Pest Control, which serves Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky, has been providing mosquito control for the city of Clarksville since 2000. McGee’s contract with the city specifies the timeframe for the control program (April 1 to September 30 of each year) and the scope of services.

These include:

• Place larvicide in stagnant water to prevent mosquitoes from developing.
• Spraying insecticides to kill adult mosquitoes. This process is known as “street fogging”.

The city’s contract with McGee focuses on public areas and mosquito control or reduction across the city. It is not designed to provide specialized services for individual private properties.

McGee technicians are state certified and the company uses chemicals that are EPA approved and safe for humans or pets.

The company’s Street Fogging program divides the city into service areas, and each area is fogged weekly. Fogging usually takes place at dusk and the company’s trucks have logos and emergency lights.

Residents are also encouraged to participate in control efforts and avoid bites by taking the following steps:

Try to eliminate potential breeding habitats for mosquitoes – e.g. B. removing stagnant water in the household.
