The buy-out of the electrical department goes online, as the partnership with the sanitary specialist will shine

The expertise of two successful Hull electrical contractors was combined after the N&P Group completed the acquisition of Lee Hood Electrical.

The move sees 15 employees being transferred and the N&P team increasing to 50 as the company continues to expand into new markets alongside extensive work to support the modular construction sector.

Lee Hood Plumbing and Heating Ltd, based in Willerby Road, a family business founded in 1995, will continue its successful plumbing business as an independent unit with a team of 22.

And the two companies say they will now work together on a number of contracts to offer customers a complete mechanical and electrical package.

“This has been a natural step for any of our companies,” said Lee Hood.

“We were originally just a plumbing and heating specialist and have built up an electrical department that has grown over the past few years and has signed many excellent contracts.

“In a way, that side of the business was growing a little too much and the contracts were getting more demanding. It made sense for us to concentrate fully on the mechanical side of our business again and to benefit for N & P from taking over the expertise of our team and a vehicle fleet.

“I believe this will benefit both companies in the long run as we will not be competing with each other and we can actually start now to combine our services on larger contracts to provide a full service.”

Founded in 2003, the N&P Group has quickly grown into a leading electrical building technology construction company, leveraging its extensive knowledge of the modular building market to work on developments in education, healthcare, retail and industry.

In recent years, numerous six- and seven-digit contracts have been concluded for large commercial systems, including fire protection, security and air conditioning systems. Past clients included Integra Buildings Limited, Catfoss Ltd, and LendLease Group Ltd.

Paul Gray, director of N&P on Merrick Street, said the addition of 15 new employees will allow him to strengthen his service to the modular sector and explore potential new markets.

“This is a really positive move for us as a company as the electrical team Lee founded has an excellent reputation and is known for the quality of their work and reliability,” he said.

“Lee’s electrical division has grown into a stand-alone successful business and it is rare that you get the opportunity to add some very experienced and skilled people to your business, which we have done with this business.

“We immediately have a new team of office workers and field technicians that will increase our capacity and expand our ability to handle larger jobs.

“We have worked in the same industries for many years and there have undoubtedly been countless ones in which we have either been committed to working on the same developments. That won’t happen now and we will work together.

“We respect each other and admire how each of our companies works. So it was only natural that we talk about working in partnership. That’s exactly what we want to do when customers need a complete mechanical and electrical package, and that already offers some exciting possibilities. “
