There are such a wide variety of landscape lighting options available today that you can have pretty much anything you want. As mentioned at the beginning, the power is either supplied by a 12 volt system that you plug into a standard socket, or you can work with solar models. The latter of course gives you the freedom to place the lighting pretty much anywhere you want. As convenient as solar lighting is, it is still subject to the whims of the weather. A few cloudy days and performance will drop significantly. Shaded areas can also limit placement. Modern 12 volt lighting is easy to wire and offers you a high level of reliability. You can hide and protect the cables in flat pipes or PVC pipes. You can bury them on the lawn or along paths if you want.
