THAT’S EDEN … with Jim Chenhall from J & J Chenhall Plumbing | magnet

How long have you been living / working in Eden?

I moved down from Sydney in 1969 thinking I could stay a year and I’m still here in 2021.

What do you like most about your job?

Every day is a different day.

What do you like least about your job?

Dig trenches and deal with clogged sewers.

What is your favorite place in Eden and / or in the Bega Valley?

I guess I’m sitting on my porch looking out at the water and the beach.

If you won $ 1 million what would you do first?

I would offer help to our son and daughter and, if possible, donate to some groups in town like Eden Service and Social Club Inc (ESSCI) that I volunteer with. Our main job is to serve the city. We have around 25 members and have been looking for new members for 23 years. We’re all getting older, but we’re doing as much as we can to help out around town and at events like the Whale Festival and Anzac Day.

What’s one thing you can’t live without?

My family and friends and my Saturday afternoon therapy which includes golf and a bit of social enjoyment.

Which three words best describe Eden?

Beaches, nature, community.

What do you think Eden needs most as a community?

Eden really needs a big hall to accommodate events like the debutant ball, big city gatherings, and more regular townspeople gatherings for all kinds of events. We definitely need more job opportunities for the younger generation.
