Simple spa treatments that you can do at home

In this week’s Kozy with KARE, Fusion LifeSpa is offering a few ways to bring the pampering right into your home.

DEEPHAVEN, Minn. – With everything we have experienced in the past year, it is important to find moments when we can take care of ourselves. Going to the spa sounds pretty nice, doesn’t it?

“I think it’s all about escaping the chatter,” says Barbara, a spa therapist at Fusion LifeSpa in Deephaven.

It helps us bring the spa to us with three things that you can do right in your own home.

First and foremost is a do-it-yourself sugar scrub for your face. All you have to do, she says, is mix the sugar, honey, and olive oil together. She says to scrub it on your face and let it sit for about 10 minutes before washing it off.

“Your skin is so soft. It’s almost like having a facial – a professional facial,” says Barbara.

She says you can actually spread yogurt all over your face before wiping it off for a cooling effect.

From your face to your feet. How about a little foot bath at the end of a long day?

Barbara recommends starting with warm water and then adding baking soda, whole milk, vanilla, Epsom salt, and lavender oil.

“Then you can use the scrub that’s left over from your face or you can do another scrub and scrub your feet,” she says.

To reduce stress and anxiety, Barbara says you can find pressure points in your hand.

“Your hands are right between your index finger and thumb and you normally hold them for 20 seconds.”

Why not tie all three things together for a little DIY spa day?

“I think it would be really nice at home if you could do a facial scrub and then put your feet in the bathtub and lie there for about 5 minutes,” says Barbara. “Then you put the yogurt on your face and let it sit for another five minutes. Then you rinse your feet and rinse off the yogurt and your face. While you are lying here, you can do your pressure points.”

All without leaving your seat.
