Sensirion’s miniaturized CO2 sensor for US HVAC apps now available worldwide

Sensirion has launched a new product in its miniaturized CO2 sensor series SCD4x. The SCD42 is designed for products that fall under California’s Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Title 24) and is therefore suitable for US HVAC applications.

A high level of carbon dioxide (CO2) impairs cognitive performance and human wellbeing. Thanks to new energy standards and better insulation, houses are becoming more and more energy efficient. However, the CO2 produced by human metabolism can quickly accumulate indoors. Therefore CO2 is a button Indoor air quality indicator.

Measuring indoor CO2 concentration enables intelligent ventilation systems to regulate ventilation in the most energy-efficient and human-friendly way possible. In addition, indoor air quality monitors and other connected devices can help maintain low levels of CO2 for a healthy, productive environment.

The SCD42 is Sensirion’s newest member of the SCD4x product line. The SCD42 is specifically designed for products that fall under California’s Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Title 24) and offers unmatched cost effectiveness for the US HVAC market. This disruptive innovation is based on the principle of photoacoustic sensors and combines minimum size with maximum performance to open up numerous new integration and application possibilities.

This integrated, first-class humidity and temperature sensor enables excellent signal compensation on the chip and additional RH and T outputs.
