The Genie Company delivers intelligent garage door openers and Aladdin Connect upgrade kits to the public. Samsung has a smart home system called Samsung SmartThings. Today the two companies announced that Aladdin Connect Smart Garage Door Openers and Retrofit Children are now certified for “Works with SmartThings”. This means that your Samsung SmartThings app can open your garage door – or that your connected SmartThings devices of all kinds may open your garage door if you flick the right switches.
If you have an Aladdin Connect smart garage door opener or retrofit kit, some SmartThings connection actions may already be waiting for you. This partnership offers a range of functions for the intelligent garage door system, including “Simplified Home Control”, “Enhanced Safety”, “Geofencing” and “Multi-Platform Voice Control”.
By connecting your Aladdin equipment to the Samsung SmartThings system, it can be connected to a wide variety of compatible devices. For the “Advanced Security” bit, Samsung suggests that users could hook up their garage door to their smoke alarm. If dangerous smoke or CO levels are detected, the intelligent smoke detector can send an alarm and SmartThings activates the garage door so that the CO can spread or the smoke can rise.
Geofencing allows the user to geotag devices to allow automatic entry. The user could set up a system that would automatically open their garage door as soon as they reached a certain distance from their driveway.
Thanks to cross-platform voice control, users may be able to open or close their garage door using Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Samsung’s own Bixby.
Take a look at the SmartThings app in the Google Play App Store for your Android device or in the Apple App Store for your iOS device. Genie / Aladdin devices should be integrated starting this week.
