Roofer gives back to the frontline workers with free repairs and roofing

The hard work and conditions that frontline healthcare workers face inspired Tom Kovack, owner of USA Roof Masters, to start a program to offer these workers free roof repairs and replacements.

When the pandemic raged last year, a local roofer gave back to frontline health workers in the area.

“We saw how much they went through and gave something back,” said Kovack.

Charity Hundeyin, who lives in Levittown, was among the frontline workers who benefited from the USA Roof Masters program.

The roof of her house had a few leaks and the water ingress had caused damage, including to the house’s boiler.

Last spring, Hundeyin, who started the pandemic on 16. For the job, she worked more than 40 hours a week and repairing her roof was not a priority.

Hundeyin said she came across a social media post in April promoting the USA Roof Masters program to support health workers. She quickly emailed and listened back quickly.

“We’ll fix it. As soon as we know your address, we can tell you what day we can get there. You will be appreciated,” Kovack wrote back in an email.

Shortly afterwards, the USA Roof Masters team got to work and examined the roof. The team made some temporary fixes and went to work a few weeks later to replace the roof.

Hundeyin said the entire roof replacement only took a few hours and was trouble-free.

“It only took you seven hours to finish the new vacant roof, but I feel like I’ve been given a lifetime not having to worry about whether or not the weather is affecting the interior of my home,” she said . “I have more of a collected peace of mind.”

As of last spring, USA Roof Masters, which offers roof repairs and roof replacements, has completed 120 projects for free for health workers to give back, Kovack said.

USA Roof Masters has won the “Best of Home Advisor” three times and is a Platinum Preferred Roofing Contractor, for which only 1 percent of roofers nationwide qualify. The company is considered a certified contractor of the roofing manufacturer GAF and an accredited professional member of the American Policeholders Association.
