Drywall maker expands in Monroe with a $ 5 million investment
Hamilton Drywall Products creates 34 new jobs in Union County
Raleigh, NC (STL.News) Hamilton Drywall Products, a manufacturer of drywall finishing products, will create 34 new jobs in Union County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $ 5 million to establish a regional headquarters and manufacturing facility in Monroe.
“Even during a pandemic, another manufacturer decides to expand its operations in North Carolina. Trusted by our workforce and ability to weather the crisis, companies like Hamilton Drywall make our state a great partner for businesses that are growing, ”said Governor Cooper.
Hamilton Drywall Products manufactures a diverse collection of compounds, textures and metal panels that are sold through distributors and national retailers. From installation to completion, professional contractors and home improvement professionals select the company’s innovative formulas and products to meet the needs of their interior design projects. Hamilton Drywall Products will expand to a 98,000 square foot manufacturing facility that will serve the company’s growing customer base in the eastern United States.
“We look forward to establishing a permanent facility in North Carolina and making a positive impact on the Monroe community,” said Mark Hamilton, general manager of Hamilton Drywall Products. “We are grateful for government and local support for this project and look forward to investing not only in future growth, but also in the people of Union County.”
“North Carolina’s convenient proximity to lucrative hypermarkets helps companies like Hamilton Drywall achieve their strategic goals,” said Anthony M. Copeland, North Carolina Secretary of Commerce. “We congratulate the company and its employees on the success that has led to this significant expansion.”
The North Carolina Department of Commerce led a team of partners to support Hamilton Drywall’s decision to expand in North Carolina. Salaries for the operations and management staff vary, but the average annual salary for all new positions could be as high as $ 45,059, resulting in payrolls in excess of $ 1.5 million per year. The median total annual wage in Union County is $ 44,989.
A $ 50,000 performance grant from the One North Carolina Fund will help facilitate Hamilton Drywall Product relocation. The One NC Fund provides financial support to local governments to attract economic investment and create jobs. Businesses don’t get paid upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment goals to qualify for the payment. All One NC grants require an appropriate grant from the local government, and each grant requires that this condition be met.
In addition to the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the North Carolina Economic Development Partnership, the North Carolina Community College System, Union County Board of Commissioners, Monroe City Council, Monroe Union and City Economic Development are other key partners in the Monroe Project.
