Through the Transformative Design Team, Carlisle combines art – and a legacy of impeccable craftsmanship – with handcrafted luxury wood floors to offer our customers even more beautiful designs.

Carlisle Wide Plank Floors, the leader in handcrafted wide plank parquet floors for residential and commercial spaces, has announced a new cross-departmental design collaboration – the Transformative Design Team – created to push the boundaries of traditional product development into an artistic concept of Exploration .

The newly formed eight-person team has the opportunity to present, design and exchange flooring ideas that reflect and express the beauty and diversity of natural parquet floors as the basis for inhabited rooms.

“The team’s approach encourages creativity and experimentation to bring freshness to both the product and person levels,” said Chris Sy, president of Carlisle Wide Plank Floors. “Team members can learn more about the many aspects of flooring while customers gain even more confidence in Carlisle’s ability to create floors that serve as art and as a unique“ canvas ”for each customer’s home. Each one tells a unique story. “

The Transformative Design Team will examine different types of surfaces, application techniques and colors, and how these elements interact and complement each other to create distinctive floor designs.

For their first project, the team developed a finishing process that takes into account the many possibilities of color layering, which has become an increasingly popular trend. The resulting floor shows a vibrant abstract design reminiscent of a Jackson Pollock painting. To create the floor, the team used different types of surfaces with techniques ranging from spraying to trowelling to simply “spilling” the surface onto the floor.

Sy noted, “Not only was the process of creating the floor fun, but it also allowed team members to better understand how colors lay on top of other colors and how different types of surfaces interact with each other. This has also been a valuable learning experience for the team who will continue to improve their skills and craftsmanship as they work to bring artisanal luxury wood floors to life for our clients. ”

Carlisle has been a manufacturer of handcrafted natural wood floors for more than 50 years and has a progressive, trend-oriented design approach. He goes beyond the perceived limits and introduces colors and surfaces that set rooms apart.

Sy added, “It is not easy to design a floor from scratch for every customer and that is what sets our team apart. Through the Transformative Design team, Carlisle combines art – and a legacy of impeccable craftsmanship – with luxurious wooden floors and helps us make our more diverse range of flooring even more beautiful. “
