Lil Jon is slated to get his own HGTV home renovation show, the network has confirmed. The Grammy-winning rapper and producer changes direction and shows his talent for unusual home design. Given the surprise some viewers feel, the show is called “Lil John Wanna Do What?” and promises some pretty unusual shots of renovation projects.

Expect to see dramatic breakthroughs in walls, gutting in the basement, and even removing the ceiling. Lil Jon will present together with the well-known designer and experienced builder Anitra Mecadon from Mega Dens from DIY Network. HGTV described the show as follows: ‘Lil Jon offers skeptical homeowners surprisingly unconventional renovation ideas that seem impossible to implement. His intrepid team can bring Lil Jon’s creative vision to life – maximizing features that homeowners have overlooked or never considered. ‘

One thing is for sure – the show that is currently being filmed in Atlanta will push the boundaries of what can be achieved with home renovation. ‘With ideas ranging from removing a ceiling to increasing the height of the living room for huge new windows, to gutting the basement to add a full-featured speakeasy for entertainment, Lil Jon and Anitra are pushing homeowners out of their comfort zones with nifty renovations and ideas that are sure to inspire daring and dramatic transformations. ‘
Lil Jon has shown that he has a longstanding passion for advising people on how to improve their homes: “I love going into someone’s house and turning it upside down,” he said. “When people hear my name, they automatically think … fun! The same energy applies to my designs. I don’t like following design trends – I’d rather be the trendsetter. ‘
Wondering what the actual designs will look like? So far, Lil Jon has kept it mysterious. In a caption for an Instagram post, he said, “SOOOO HAVE WORKED ON THIS SO DURING AND CAN FINALLY TELL YOU ABOUT MY NEW SHOW WITH @anitramecadon ON @hgtv.” LIL JON WANT TO DO WHAT? !! “WHERE I … Well, you just have to watch. ‘
The show will air in the summer of 2021.
