Fireworks blow out house windows that are involved in the fire in the mission district

Three windows of a house in the Excelsior district were blown out when a firework “larger than M80” was set off in a drainpipe at around 7:40 pm, said the San Francisco fire department.

The explosion took place in a one-story house at 197 Edinburgh Street, but there were no injuries, the department said.

Firefighters also responded to a two-alarm fire in the mission district on Friday afternoon at St. 2966 Mission, which may have been linked to fireworks.

“There are several witnesses who saw and heard fireworks before seeing smoke and flames on the roof of the building,” said Lt. Jonathan Baxter told reporters on Friday afternoon.
