Elder tusk of the Kala-Balalu Wewa reservation killed by electric fence

A tusk named “Revatha” from the Kala-Balalu Wewa reservation was electrocuted after coming into contact with an electric fence erected near a corn farm in the Aliya Watuna Wewa area.

Revatha, nicknamed “Adambarakaaraya” of the reservation, was the oldest tusk of the tusk herd in the Kala-Balalu Wewa reservation.

According to wildlife officials, the deceased tusk was 50-55 years old.

According to official information, there have been no incidents in which Revatha assaulted people or caused property damage.

A team led by vet Chandana Jayasinghe from the Pandulagama Wildlife Office in Anuradhapura performed the autopsy.
