Since the pandemic started more than a year ago, home improvement projects have increased and don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, according to several local companies.
According to researchers at Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies, total home improvement and repair spending rose an estimated 3% nationwide last year to $ 419 billion, despite an overall slowdown in the U.S. economy.
Online home remodeling platform Houzz reports that in June 2020 demand for kitchen and bathroom remodeling increased 40% year over year, while new additions increased 52% and fence projects increased 166% have risen.
This makes perfect sense as the pandemic has pushed us to spend time in our homes like never before. It became the focus of our lives and we noticed ways we could make updates and improvements.
