Do you need a lawnmower upgrade ?: Mayor Mendenhall, DAQ kick-off event for lawnmower replacement on Monday

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Does your lawn mower need an upgrade?

Utah residents can upgrade their gas lawn mowers to battery-powered electricity through the Utah State Lawn Mower Exchange Program.

Officials say electric lawnmowers are quieter, easier to use, and better for Utah’s air.

According to official information, the program offers discounts of up to $ 300 on the purchase of an electric lawnmower with a confirmed trade-in for a gas-powered lawnmower.

Officials add that only a limited number of Salt Lake City residents who receive government assistance are eligible to receive a lawnmower for free.

Salt Lake City residents are also entitled to have their old gas-powered mowers picked up from their homes for recycling.

Davis, Salt Lake, Tooele, Utah, and Weber counties are also officially eligible for the lawnmower exchange program.

The exchange program will take place on Monday, April 5th from 11:00 am to 11:30 am at the International Peace Gardens in Jordan Park, 1160 Dalton Avenue, Salt Lake City.

Those attending the exchange event are asked to follow COVID-19 safety protocols for wearing masks and physical distancing throughout the event.
