Officers stationed in southeast Lincoln have been running a project to combat the rise, police said.

Tenants were advised to close and lock their garage doors and remove valuables from the inside.

“When the weather gets warmer, people will use their garage more for outdoor activities. It is important that you close and lock your garage after use. While the number of home garage break-ins has increased, these security tips apply to all garages. It’s easy to forget to check your garage door at the end of the night. Set an alarm and make it a routine, your 9pm routine. “
