Bending residents urged to prevent icy sidewalks with lawn sprinklers

BEND, OR – The Deschutes County Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee is committed to promoting and promoting safe walking and cycling as an important means of transport in the area. Associate Planner Tanya Saltzman says there have been several bicycle and pedestrian accidents related to icy sidewalks and streets over the years that can be prevented by simply turning off your sprinkler systems. Saltzman says around this time the irrigation systems are normally blown out and turned off for the season. Because of this, she wants to remind the public to give it some consideration to ensure sidewalks and roads are safe to navigate.
