A man wanted for fraud is in custody after throwing himself in to Ottawa police on Thursday morning, police said.

Philip Slobodzian, 44, is charged with two fraud cases under $ 5,000 and two for possession of the proceeds of crime.

On Wednesday, police released a photo of Slobodzian and asked the public for help finding him.

The charges relate to an alleged construction fraud in which homeowners paid for roofs that were never done.

Police say a man went door to door to get roofers and collect deposits from them but never did the job and ignored their calls.
